Scandinavian style dining table & bench

This modern Scandinavian-style dining table and bench set was commissioned as a stylistic counterpoint to a contemporary Victorian interior. To ensure the set didn't overwhelm the compact room, the design prioritises a light, elegant silhouette.

Functional elegance 

Sized perfectly for the space, the table comfortably seats six (or perhaps seven, if a tiny person sits on the bench). For added practicality, the bench tucks completely beneath the table when not in use, reclaiming vital floor space and maintaining the room’s flow.

New & Old 

We selected Beech for its pale, airy appearance and its striking medullary rays—the prominent horizontal flecks that create a natural, decorative texture on the timber’s surface.

The "old" component is copper piping. Yes, the same used in your home. This was utilised for bracing the tapered legs, providing a unique "talking point" for this family dining table. As it ages, a natural, protective layer forms through oxidation, shifting the metal from a shiny orange to a deep brown, and eventually to the distinctive blue-green colour known as verdigris.
