Furniture embracing life

We don’t do "don’t touch." We create handcrafted furniture built for the beauty of family life, wear, and tear.
We celebrate the imperfections because they make everything unique. Perfection is overrated anyway!

The patina of life

At Patina & Grain, we believe that a home should be a record of a life well-lived. A scratch, a faded edge, or a weathered surface isn’t a flaw to be fixed — it’s a memory to be cherished.

Guided by the Japanese ethos of Wabi Sabi, we celebrate the natural cycle of time. Our furniture is built to do more than just sit in a room. It is designed to welcome the wear, tear, and joy of everyday life. We call this "The Patina of Life." It’s the kind of character that only a family history can etch into a piece.

The art of the reimagined

Our process is a dialogue between the past and the present. We don't simply restore; we reimagine. Each piece begins with a legacy furniture element that carries its own history and weathered soul, which we then fuse with a newly crafted, contemporary component. This intentional collision of old and new creates a functional evolution, ensuring that while the story of the original piece remains, its journey is just beginning.

Care guide

Most furniture brands tell you how to keep their pieces looking "new." We’d rather help yours grow old. Here is how to care for a piece that is built to embrace life.

Create your story

Forget the coaster

Our finishes are durable, but they aren't meant to be bulletproof. If a glass leaves a faint ring or a plate leaves a mark, don't panic. You aren't "ruining" the table; you're starting its first chapter.

Welcome the dents

The "Patina of Life" happens when wood meets reality. The small marks from a fallen set of keys or a child’s craft project are the textures of a home. Over time, these marks blend together to create a surface that is uniquely yours.

Natural Aging

Like us, wood changes with time. Sunlight will mellow the tones and the grain will deepen. Don't fight the fade — it’s the wood’s way of showing you how much life it has seen.

Simple Maintenance

To keep the timber healthy, a simple wipe with a damp cloth is usually all it needs. For deeper care, a natural wax or oil every few months will nourish the grain without hiding the character it’s earned.

Do you already have an idea?

Material selection

When creating a new item of furniture we do our utmost to use existing material. However, some pieces require new material — whether that is soft or hard wood, ironmongery or finishes. We will work with you to find the right balance for your project.
